My Introduction to the Pellet Smoker
Several years ago, a friend of mine cooked some of the BEST ribs I had ever tasted! I knew he had a Traeger pellet smoker, but that was the limit of my knowledge about how they were cooked. After tasting those ribs, I KNEW I had to get me one of those new fangled machines! Since then, I have learned so much about cooking on the pellet grill. During the summer months, I pretty much avoid turning on the oven at all. If you are a true, die-hard smoker (like me), you can position your Traeger right outside the door and use it all year long. Hack for Tracking Freezer Inventory
Now that fall is almost here, it’s time to start planning ahead for those cold winter months. Here is a quick hack I like to use when tracking my freezer inventory. This keeps me from having to deep dive, searching for what I have in the middle of winter. By using a small, Magnetic Dry Erase Board to keep a running an inventory, it is much easier to track the contents. I purchased one similar to the one found here on Amazon. Fish Boil at Cherry Point Farm & Market
If you have never been to a fish boil before, you are in for an experience at Cherry Point Farm and Market. Located in Shelby, MI it is just a mile from Lake Michigan and a short drive to Silver Lake sand dunes. You will see numerous Jeeps and side-by-sides traveling down the road from the dunes with their tall orange flags protruding from the hoods. (Tall flags bearing fluorescent colors are used so that vehicles can be seen from the dunes by other drivers.) The working farm is a destination if you have always wanted to visit a real lavender farm. If you weren’t aware, Michigan lies on the…

Let Your Locale Inspire Your Decor
We like to go antiquing and find items that fit the climate. When we first moved to Michigan, the first thing that came to mind was sledding and snow. We decided to use our location as inspiration for our decor in the dining room. A lot of cold weather finds have been incorporated into our decor. For example, a small, antique sled sits atop the entry to the dining room. When the accent light is turned on, it creates a nice, cozy atmosphere in a larger room. We propped a pair of old skis up against the wall behind our French doors that lead into the nook off of the…
